About Me

I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the lab of Dr. Alessandra d’Azzo in the Department of Genetics at “St. Jude Children’s Research hospital

Biography

My research focuses on mechanisms of neuropathogenesis in GM1 gangliosidosis downstream of GM1 accumulation in neuronal membrane contact sites, leading to altered synaptic plasticity. I also have strong interests in advanced imaging protocols for the analysis of membrane contact sites.

Research Goals

My research interests include understanding the functions of neuronal membranes as it pertains to lipid and protein composition. I have a strong curiosity in designing and managing computer science approaches to refine image analysis and data production. I am looking to expand my knowledge in coding and to develop semi-automated programs to advance current strategies employed by the scientific community.

Education

I received a Master’s degree in Aging and Neuroscience at the University of South Florida College of Medicine and later received my Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
